Zach LaVine is expected to re-sign with the Chicago Bulls, according to sources.

Zach LaVine, a two-time All-Star, is expected to re-sign with the Chicago Bulls when free agency begins on June 30, according to sources.

Over the last two weeks, LaVine’s free agency has sparked a lot of discussion among NBA personnel. Despite reports that the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks, and Los Angeles Lakers are interested in signing LaVine, the coveted swingman is expected to stay with his present squad.

The fifth year of LaVine’s contract appears to be the focus of negotiations for his next contract. LaVine is in line for a five-year contract worth around $200 million. It has to be seen whether that season is entirely guaranteed, a player option, or yields other possible outcomes.

Only San Antonio could provide a clear No. 1 playmaking potential among the clubs in play for LaVine, and the Spurs are considered far off from the postseason environment LaVine prefers, creating to doubt among rival executives that LaVine would ever consider options outside of Chicago.

Meanwhile, the Bulls are still looking for the right frontcourt lynchpin to complement LaVine and DeRozan. Sources say Chicago is still looking for a trade partner for two-time All-Star center Nikola Vucevic. According to speculations, the Bulls are interested in Rudy Gobert, but they are unwilling to put Patrick Williams alongside Vucevic in a trade package for Gobert.

Chicago is actively discussing the No. 18 pick and Coby White with rival teams.
